First Year Seminars

The gateway course to the Loyola Core is the First-Year Seminar (FYS). This issues-based, interdisciplinary seminar introduces students to college-level thinking and learning, as well as the Jesuit values at the core of a Loyola education.

A list of current or upcoming FYS courses can be found through the Course Section Search function on the public Loyola Online Records Access system (LORA):

The First-Year Seminars are part of Loyola’s First-Year Experience which integrates students into the Loyola learning environment. The experience features additional programs that help students make connections between their academic work, their out-of-class experiences, and Loyola’s values and mission.
